My Prime Day Kitchen Picks

Hi Reader,

Prime Day is today and tomorrow. Instead of sending you a list of a hundred random deals, I'm only sharing things I use in my own kitchen. Some of them are on sale right now, so if something's been on your wish list, today's a good day to check.

KitchenAid 8 Cup Grain and Rice Cooker

My husband loves this one the most. It makes rice, beans, and other grains. It weighs the grains for you and automatically adds the right amount of water to cook them.

Instant Pot Duo 6 Quart 7-in-1

This machine got me through a lot of dinners back in the day. It's how I made my oxtails, which are still one of my most popular recipes. If you're getting a new one, I have plenty of pressure cooker recipes to get you started.

My Two Stand Mixers

I have two mixers. My KitchenAid handles my day-to-day baking, and my Bosch Universal Plus is great for big batches.

Rubbermaid Brilliance Glass Food Storage Containers

With all this cooking, I have a lot of leftovers, and these Brilliance containers are my go-to for storing them.

Souper Cubes Freezer Trays

These are great for freezing my leftovers too. Freezing meals in smaller portions means they reheat a lot quicker.

Nama J2 Cold Press Juicer

Sometimes it's hard to get all my nutrients in, so I started juicing to fill in the gaps. This one is easy to clean and fits on the counter under my cabinets.

Fullstar Pro Vegetable Chopper

I used to think these choppers were useless because I'd just grab my chef's knife. But once I started using it, I was hooked. Perfectly diced onions, peppers, avocado, you name it.

My Favorite Chef's Spoon

I love, love, love this spoon. It's the one I grab first every time I cook. It's deep, so it handles a lot of jobs. I use it to spoon off grease when I'm browning ground beef and to baste steak or chicken with melted butter in the pan. I also like that the markings inside are measurements.

Twist Whisk

This one lays flat in my drawer, and I just twist it open when I need to use it. The wires are silicone-coated steel and heat-resistant up to 392°F (200°C).

I hope these picks are helpful!

Happy Cooking,

A bowl of split pea soup topped with bits of ham

Hi Reader, Soup season is officially here, so this week's menu is all soups and stews. There's a little Southern, a little Jamaican, and most of them come together in one pot. This Week's Menu Five pots to get you through the week, from a smoky Southern stew to my mom's stew peas. Church Fundraiser Favorite: Easy Brunswick Stew A tomato-based Southern stew with smoked meat, lots of veggies, and a tangy BBQ sauce. spinach artichoke dip in cast iron skillet

Hi Reader, This spinach artichoke dip is a family favorite in my house. The spinach, tender artichokes, and melted cheese are in perfect harmony. The key is the ratio: too much spinach and the dip can feel heavy, while too much cheese overpowers everything else. Getting that balance right gives you a rich, creamy dip with plenty of texture in every single bite. whole chicken in slow cooker

Hi Reader, Slow-cooker whole chicken might just be the best dinner shortcut in my kitchen right now. I have been using my slow cooker a lot lately to see what actually turns out great and what really is not worth the hype, and this recipe easily made the cut. Whole chickens are such a staple because one bird stretches so far. You get tender, juicy meat with hardly any hands-on work, plus enough shredded chicken for tacos, quick salads, and easy dinners all week long. A simple spice rub and a...
