My Mom's Jamaican Cabbage Recipe

โ€‹

Hi [FIRST NAME GOES HERE],

With the holidays coming up and everyone planning their big turkey dinners, I've been thinking about sides. You know what gets overlooked?

A really good vegetable side that doesn't require a ton of effort but still brings flavor to the table. This Jamaican cabbage is exactly that. It's my mom's recipe, and it's been on our weekly rotation for years because it's fast, it's affordable, and perfect for both weeknights and special occasions.

Here's why this works so well:

๐Ÿฅฌ Takes about 15 minutes total โ€“ You're not spending an hour on a side dish.

๐Ÿฅฌ Uses ingredients you probably have โ€“ Green cabbage, carrots, onion, garlic, thyme. The Scotch bonnet pepper adds heat, but you can dial it back or leave it out if that's not your thing. You can also use a jalapeno or habanero pepper.

๐Ÿฅฌ Works with pretty much any main โ€“ I serve it with oxtail or curry chicken, but it's just as good with pork chops, steak, or even as a low-carb swap for rice.

๐Ÿฅฌ Flexible on texture โ€“ Want it crunchier? Cook for 6-8 minutes. Want it softer? Go for 10-12 minutes.
